Welcome to the official website of the Kabalega Independence Run (KIR). By accessing this website or participating in any activities affiliated with the Kabalega Independence Run, you agree to comply with and be bound by the following Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully.

1. Overview

The Kabalega Independence Run (KIR), inaugurated in October 2023 during the centenary of Omukama Cwa II Kabalega’s legacy, is an annual social event designed to bring communities together through running events for causes of common good. By visiting our website or participating in our activities, you acknowledge and accept these terms in full.

2. Eligibility & Participation

  • Participation in the Kabalega Independence Run is open to individuals of all ages, unless otherwise specified for specific categories or distances.

  • Minors under the age of 18 must be registered by a parent or guardian who assumes responsibility for their participation.

  • All participants acknowledge that running is a physically strenuous activity and affirm that they are physically fit and medically cleared to participate.

3. Consent to Participate and Assumption of Risk

By registering for and participating in the Kabalega Independence Run or any of its affiliated activities, including but not limited to training runs, fundraising events, health screenings, and the annual blood donation drive, you:

  • Understand and accept all inherent risks associated with such activities, including but not limited to injury, illness, accidents, or other health-related events.

  • Agree that the organizers, sponsors, partners, and affiliates of the Kabalega Independence Run are not liable for any injuries, losses, or damages incurred during participation.

  • Acknowledge that medical support may be limited depending on location and event scale.

4. Media Release & Consent

By participating in the Kabalega Independence Run and its affiliated events, you grant full, unrestricted, and irrevocable permission to the organizers to:

  • Capture your likeness in photographs, videos, and other media formats during the event.

  • Use, reproduce, distribute, publish, and display such media in promotional materials, on social media platforms, websites, reports, press releases, or any other official communications related to the Kabalega Independence Run.

  • Waive any right to inspect or approve the finished product or to receive compensation for such use.

This media release applies in perpetuity and worldwide.

5. Registration & Fees

  • All registrations are subject to availability and may close without prior notice.

  • Registration fees (if applicable) are non-refundable except in the case of event cancellation by the organizers.

  • Organizers reserve the right to refuse or cancel any registration at their discretion.

6. Code of Conduct

All participants, sponsors, volunteers, and visitors must:

  • Behave respectfully and responsibly toward others.

  • Comply with event guidelines, directions from event officials, and all local laws and regulations.

  • Not engage in harassment, discrimination, or any form of misconduct.

Failure to comply may result in removal from the event and restriction from future participation.

7. Data Protection & Privacy

  • Any personal information collected during registration or participation will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

  • We use your information primarily for registration, communication, and event coordination purposes.

8. Changes to Terms

Kabalega Independence Run reserves the right to modify or update these Terms & Conditions at any time without prior notice. Continued use of the website or participation in the event following such changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

9. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Uganda, and any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Ugandan courts.
